Marrakesh

After taking the 1hour topsy turvy ferry from Southern Spain to northern Africa, we landed in the overwhelming city of Tangier, Morocco where hustlers and faux-guides are the best of their kind. We took the overnight train from Tangier to Marrakesh and in the morning, ended up in the labyrinth of Djamma-el-Fna, the home of the souqs (open air markets of Morocco), snake charmers, fresh squeezed orange juice, exotic smells of cumin and god knows what else, poor hygeine, sith lords(men wearing the traditional dress called gellabas with a high hood and long cape which makes you think you are on the set of a Star Wars filming), moroccan rugs, girls attacking you with henna syringes, ahh to say the least it is the intriguing and overwhelming city and nomad capital of the south, an oasis in the desert. The epitome of Moroccan Africa. Note the Koutoubia Mosque that towers 70metres over the city.
