TORINO 2006!

We arrived at Porto Nuevo train station in Torino luckily to have the local, Sof, show us to our apartment for the weekend right underneath the famous Mole Antonelli building (which is the logo for the 2006 Olympics). We were staying a few blocks from the main street, Via Po, where most of the action was going on.....We had our most authentic and HUGE italian meal with Simona and Giorgio, with homemade Piemonte region raviolis, carpacci (thin sliced raw meat), focaccia, sausage, cheeses, salad, wine, red sparkling wine, grappa, whiskey, oranges, chocolates, cookies and coffee....just to name a few things, and yes, this was lunch....then we met up with Mossimo and Sylvie at their favorite Pizzeria and went out for the White Night where most everything in Torino was open all night until dawn...We did not make it that late but there were sooo many people out!

The castle you see was actually built in the 1960s...








We were lucky enough to walk the red carpet into "Casa Italia"...each country has their own tent during the Olympics and if you have a pass you may go inside for free drinks, eats, and in Casa Italia, the best Sicilian blood red orange juice you have ever tasted!
